Welcome to NEWMDB!

We have great news - a new User Interface is coming soon to the NEWMDB

NEWMDB will be easier to browse, offer more search options, and support user-defined queries. Our goal is to make NEWMDB the premier international nuclear waste knowledge base.

Please, click here to see our first prototype screens and to see the direction that NEWMDB is taking to make it easier and more functional tool for your information needs.

The International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) Net Enabled Waste Management Database (NEWMDB) contains:

  • information on national radioactive waste management programmes,
  • radioactive waste inventories,
  • radioactive waste disposal,
  • relevant laws and regulations,
  • waste management policies, and
  • plans and activities.

You can directly access data or download complete reports concerning our Agency Member States waste management programs. There is information on each contributing Member State, their respective sites and facilities, treatment, storage, and disposal methods, and much more.

The NEWMDB also includes a Reading Room, which contains radioactive waste management information supplied both by the IAEA and Member States that supplements the data. The Reading Room contains reports and other important documents related to radioactive waste management, IAEA reports, and links to web sites of interest to the waste management community.
