What's New in the Member Area (February 2004)

February 23, 2004

"unknown (site not selected)" was added to the list of Host Medium options

February 2, 2004

At the end of January 2004, it was discovered that an issue that was raised during NEWMDB workshops had not been addressed in NEWMDB-II. This issue relates to a decommissioning policy question. For reference, please access the following link, then select slide 98.

http://www-newmdb.iaea.org/help/workshops2002_files/frame.htm

To address the issue, the following changes were made February 2, 2004 and, therefore, they do not appear in the submission flowchart.

Under the Decommissioning policy topic, there are now three sub-topics instead of two:

Funding <= remains the same as the original NEWMDB

Facilities <= new questions

Timeframe <= remains the same as the original NEWMDB

The Facilities sub-topic addresses the issue that some countries may not have Nuclear Fuel Cycle facilities (NFC). There are two questions:

Does Your Country have any nuclear fuel cycle facilities? Yes / No

Does Your Country have any nuclear applications facilities (non fuel cycle facilities)? Yes / No

If you answer No to both questions and Save, the Timeframe sub-topic will be hidden (since the questions would not make sense). If you answer Yes to either or both questions, the Timeframe sub-topic will be shown and you will be presented with one or two additional questions to answer.

Therefore, CCs who made previous submissions should review the Decommissioning policy questions and provide the appropriate answers.
